We are thrilled to announce that thanks to the incredible efforts of Katalin Balázsi, one of the greatest supporters of our program, Our Voice now has an officially registered star!

Yes, you’ve read it well, we spent Our Voice in space! We couldn’t be more grateful for Katalin’s dedication and support in making this dream a reality.

Katalin Balázsi, Head of Thin Film Physics Department at the Institute of Technical Physics and Materials Science in Hungary and president of Woman in Science Society, joined the project as a mentor for young people in Hungary, alongside her husband, Csaba Balázsi. In last summer’s introductory camp, she gave us a super exciting presentation, and during our discussions, the topic of astronomy came up, capturing the attention of many young participants.

This sparked a creative idea: in the future, Katalin would find a star dedicated specifically to the Our Voice project. True to her word, this summer, she brought us our very own constellation:

The star of „Mi Hangunk” (Our Voice) is 1,651 light-years away, with an effective temperature of 5,811 K (almost the same as our Sun). It is located in the Orion constellation, and its position is marked by a red plus sign (just below the Betelgeuse label).

Now, our program will forever shine brightly in the sky, just like the amazing community behind it.
